London is the capital city of England and the United Kingdom. It was founded around 43 CE by the Romans.

1. London has hosted the Summer Olympics three times: 1908, 1948, and 2012.

3. More than 300 languages are spoken in London, making it one of the most diverse cities on Earth.

What we did

August, 1982 Greg’s high school trip to England

• Went to Windsor Castle and spent the morning there. Traveled to Chatham where I stayed at the Pines Hotel.

• We traveled to Salisbury and visited the Salisbury Cathedral.

• Then we went to Stonehenge.

• Went to Bath and visited the bath and museum.

• Then we visited Brunel's SS Great Britain the first ocean liner.

• Saw Windsor Castle.

• Passed through Stratford-upon-Avon.

• Saw Big Ben, the houses of parliament, guards on horseback, and the post office tower.

• Wembley Stadium for game with Liverpool versus Hotspur‘s at 5 o’clock. Got at Wembley Stadium at 3 PM. Many riots broke out. Liverpool won 1 to 0 over the hot spurs.

• Went to London and saw Tower of London and Tower Bridge.
